VO2max testing is one of the most accurate ways to assess cardiovascular and respiratory efficiency during exercise. The test determines how much oxygen your body can use during intense activity – a key indicator of endurance.
Who is the test for?
- Professional and amateur athletes looking to optimise their training.
- People who want to assess their physical fitness and health indicators.
- Coaches and fitness professionals who need accurate data about their clients' fitness.
What will a VO2max test tell you?
- Your precise VO2max value – your body's maximum oxygen consumption.
- Training zones based on heart rate and breathing (fat-burning, aerobic, anaerobic and other zones).
- Ventilatory thresholds (VT1, VT2):
- VT1 – the first ventilatory threshold, where breathing starts to increase in response to rising carbon dioxide levels associated with the onset of lactate production. At this intensity, the body obtains most of its energy from fat oxidation, with a gradually increasing contribution from carbohydrates.
- VT2 – the second (anaerobic) threshold – the intensity at which breathing increases further as lactate accumulates rapidly in the blood. Exercise above this threshold cannot be sustained for long, as anaerobic processes become dominant and fatigue builds quickly.
- Your recovery efficiency and potential areas for improvement.
Why take the test?
- Receive personalised recommendations for training or weight management.
- Reduce the risk of injuryby understanding your current capabilities.
- Track your progress and objectively assess the effectiveness of your training.
- Find motivation to pursue new goals based on accurate data.
How is the test performed?
- You wear a special breathing mask connected to a VO2 Master analyser.
- You exercise at a gradually increasing intensity on a stationary bike or treadmill.
- Specialist equipment measures oxygen consumption, breathing rate, tidal volume and ventilation in real time.
- Your results are processed and you receive an individual report with recommendations.
Where is the test performed?
Currently we perform physiological testing for runners at:
M. K. Čiurlionio g. 112, LT-03100 Vilnius (VINGIS STADIUM)
From 11:00 to 15:00
By prior appointment only.
For cyclists: our VO2 Master system is mobile, so we can perform cycling tests at a location convenient for the athlete.
