SPORTLAB’s flagship testing service for cyclists and runners. Understand how hard to train and which aspects of your endurance deserve the most attention.
A combined VO₂max + lactate test, LT1/LT2 assessment, individual power or pace and heart-rate zones, analysis of physiological performance limiters and a results consultation.
€160 incl. VAT · a 2-hour appointment. This service is listed as “Combined test” in the booking system.
What will you receive?
- An assessment of your aerobic capacity. Oxygen-consumption measurements during exercise and your achieved VO₂max, or VO₂peak when maximal criteria are not confirmed.
- LT1 and LT2 estimates. Analysis of your lactate curve alongside power or speed, heart rate and perceived exertion (RPE).
- Practical training zones. For cyclists: power in watts and heart rate. For runners: pace in min/km or speed in km/h and heart rate.
- Analysis of physiological performance limiters. We assess which traits supported by the test data most constrain your goal: aerobic capacity, thresholds relative to that capacity or your response to increasing exercise intensity.
- An individual report and results consultation. We explain the findings, discuss training priorities and show you how to use your zones in everyday training.
For cyclists and runners
For cyclists: we relate oxygen consumption and lactate changes to power output. You receive practical intensity guidance for easy endurance work, threshold sessions and higher-intensity intervals.
For runners: we relate the results to running speed or pace. You receive individual pace and heart-rate zones based on your current fitness.
Suitable when starting structured training, planning a season, preparing for an event or investigating a plateau. The test is adapted to your experience and goals.
How does testing work?
- Consultation and preparation. We discuss your goals, training history and current condition, then select a protocol appropriate to your sport.
- Step testing and lactate measurements. As power or speed increases, we record heart rate and perceived exertion and take capillary blood samples to measure lactate.
- VO₂ measurement. Using VO₂ Master, we analyse oxygen consumption and breathing measurements. The maximal part of the test follows the selected protocol and is adapted to your condition.
- Report and consultation. We combine the measurements into your individual profile and discuss practical training priorities.
How are the results interpreted?
LT1 and LT2 are estimates based on the test protocol and lactate curve. LT2 is not automatically a directly confirmed MLSS or FTP; an additional constant-load test may be recommended when a sustainable intensity needs to be verified.
The analysis of performance limiters is a data-informed coaching assessment, not a medical diagnosis. The report distinguishes measured values, estimates and questions that require further assessment.
VO₂ Master does not directly measure carbon dioxide production (VCO₂), so this service does not include direct determination of RER or the ratio of fat to carbohydrate oxidation.
Location and preparation
Testing is available in Vilnius by appointment. Running tests can take place at Vingis Stadium; cycling test locations are arranged individually. Your location and preparation instructions are confirmed before the visit.
When booking, tell us whether you need a cycling or running test. If you have previous test results, bring them for comparison.
